E o lupta scarboasa, o lupta de gherila, o lupta in mocirla.

Sondaj alegeri 2009

Romania, Roma, Racism and Madonna

First refferences of Roma people appear in Romanian teritory around 15 cetury. A big part of them were slaves in Romania before the abolition on the slavery between 1833 and 1854( the movement movement to abolish slavery was a gradual process with first important movements at the end of the 18th century, which ended in England and France around 1848, and in US in 1865).

And this wdnesdqy (26 august 2009) Madonna had a concert in Bucarest. 60000 people assisted. And she tried to launch a tolerance message . The crowd responded in a shamefull way … they booooed her. Why ? They her message as a reproach … as she was accusing them of being racist. Well, just a part of the crowd responded by boooing …. let’s say 20%. But this is enough. Because this is the answer of somebody who doesn’t accept criticism and his guilt.

As a Romanian I know very well what’s happening in romania. At least 10 to  20% don’t like Romas. Why ? There are multiple answers, some more motivated (“i’ve been robbed 2 times by romas”), but the vast majority just because they have been thought by their parents or their friends that Romas are more often prone to stealing and robery.

I happend to see some otherwise very educated and usually nice persons who manifested straghtforward adversty towards Romas. Imagine that i have friends with high moral standards, except for the Roms. I asked them, how they can be fair in most cases, but totaly hate the roms. And they said they know it’s not right, but that tehy cannont help it : they had been educated from young age  to think that and they don’t want , or cannot change.

So a part of the romanians are racist toward Romas. And they don’t accept that. And the are offended that they are called racists.

Well, there is an important  part of the romanians which are nont racist(i hope that more than 90%. But this part never stand out, they won’t boo when acused of racism, so you’ll never notice them.

I hope that better education will get this 90% to 100% … and soon.

Corrected Overall Medal Standings – Overall World Standings

After seeing the oficial medal standings on the 2008 Olympic Games site , I was curious to see how the European Union stands out in the world of sports. So I summed the results for the countries in EU and I was very happy to see that EU comes in first place, by far.

Medal Standings Total
1 European Union EU 94 106 107 307
2 ChinaCHN 51 21 28 100
3 United StatesUSA 36 38 36 110
4 Russian Fed.RUS 23 21 28 72
5 Great BritainGBR 19 13 15 47

Also, looking at a comparaison of GDP around the world(CIA World Factbook), I see that EU is starting to be the super-power we tried to create. A super-power that act very slow(because of the time needed to get the consensus of their components governements), but when is acting, is almost sure to make the best decision(or the best compromise). Between so many il tempered super-powers( US, China, Russia) , the European Union is like a calm mediator.

Rank
Country
GDP (purchasing power parity)
Date of Information
1
World $ 65,610,000,000,000 2007 est.
2
European Union $ 14,380,000,000,000 2007 est.
3
United States $ 13,840,000,000,000 2007 est.
4
China $ 6,991,000,000,000 2007 est.
5
Japan $ 4,290,000,000,000 2007 est.

I hope that this union of countries will become a strong source of stability and prosperity in this so agitated and troubled world.

Am I nationalist if I say that I’m proud to be a citizen of the European Union ?

Odata starpita coruptia, Romania ar putea sa progreseze economic foarte rapid, si s-ar reduce diferentele sociale intre clase. Un impact pozitiv s-ar propaga in toate domeniile – economic, social, politic, cultural.

TRAIM IN TARA NIMANUI!!!

Game Consoles Wars

Throughout the holiday quarter, Sony Computer Entertainment managed to sell an estimated 4.9 million PlayStation 3 console worldwide. Despite strong sales of the company’s latest console, Sony cut its sales PS3 target for fiscal year from 11 million to 9.5 million units.

Microsoft was able to sell 4.3 million Xbox 360 units during the fourth calendar quarter 2007 (fiscal Q2 2008). The number is slightly down from 4.4 million units the company sold during the Christmas season of 2007. Unit sales for the first six months of Microsoft’s fiscal year 2008 came in at 6.1 million, up from 5.4 million in H1 FY2007.

Nintendo employees will be throwing down tonight and waking up the next morning hungover, after receiving the news that they have sold 7.09 million units worldwide, and are hot on Bill Gates tail as they close in on the Xbox 360.

So 4.9milion PS3, 4.3 million XBOX 360 , and  7,09milion Wii .

If this trend continues, I see very good times for PS3, who managed to rise from small sales in 2006-2007.
